- I've been a survivalist since 1986. In the mid 90's I bought some land in another state and began improving it for use as a retreat. The late 90's were a good time monetarily for me, so I sank money into the property and built a home. In late 99 we moved to our retreat and have lived there full time ever since. I'm here to share some of what I've learned in these 22 years of preparing.
